Voice Alarm Box
A speaker box for AGVs — plays warning sounds on command from the robot controller over RS485. Tells people nearby that the robot is about to move, is turning, or has a problem.
What it is for
A robot that moves quietly is more dangerous to people on foot than it seems, because people do not watch where they are going all the time — but their ears work all the time.
Purpose |
How |
|---|---|
Warn before moving off |
Play a sound 2–3 seconds before the wheels turn |
Warn when reversing |
Continuous sound, since the robot cannot see behind |
Signal turns |
A different sound for left and right |
Report faults |
Low battery · lost · blocked for too long |
Report job state |
Arrived at the load point · loading finished |
Tip
Use clearly different sounds for different urgency. A routine status sound and a danger warning must be distinguishable without paying attention.
If everything sounds the same, people stop noticing within days — and then the real warning is the one nobody hears.

Danger
🔴 The RS485 model splits again, by protocol.
This family ships from the factory speaking a vendor-specific protocol. Modbus must be requested when ordering — the manual marks it Customer request only.
The units we stock are Modbus. If you got a unit elsewhere, try the other one.
Picking the wrong one produces total silence with no error at all — it looks exactly like a broken cable. Try the other protocol before you rewire anything.

Danger
🔴 IP23 is not waterproof. It resists solid objects over 12.5 mm and water dripping at up to 60° from vertical — nothing more.
Never mount it where the floor is hosed down, and never facing upward. If your plant washes floors with a hose, put it inside an enclosure.
The RFID readers we sell alongside are IP67, which is a completely different rating. Do not carry that assumption across.
Note
100 dB is measured with the built-in speaker. The manual qualifies it with depending on the speaker.
Driving an external passive speaker from the terminal provided, the manual states it can exceed 120 dB — loud enough for very noisy plants.
Test tool
A browser page for triggering sounds and setting the volume with no code. Useful for finding which sound is in which folder.
It is split by protocol. If you bought from us, start with the Modbus page.
